All That’s Left is a meditative short exploring memory, loss and reconciling with the past. May, the protagonist, returns to the place her mother abandoned her as a child. Through flashbacks, the washing line remains a vivid time capsule. This atmospheric film shot in Dorset delivers delicate performances and intimate imagery.

Produced by a group of talented Bournemouth University film students, the project reflects the next generation of British storytellers. At Crew Studio, we’re proud to support emerging talent by providing access to industry-grade kit backed by our partners.

Cinematography & Production Design

From our conversation with cinematographer Noah Hecht:

“A key part of our visual approach was staying close to the characters … often using handheld camerawork to bring the audience into their world.”Because of this dynamic shooting style, it was crucial to find lighting fixtures that could adapt quickly … Sidus Link allowed our gaffer to stay right next to me … streamlining our workflow and helping us move more efficiently.”

Working with a child actor meant keeping things compact and calm:

  • Small crew, low-footprint approach, which supports natural performances and keeps the atmosphere gentle.
  • Battery-powered and mains Aputure fixtures provided seamless switching between static setups and quick handheld movements.
  • The Sidus Link app allowed gaffers to stay near the camera operator, streamlining light adjustment with minimal disruption
