Historic UK Conservatoire Extends Production Partnership with Crew Studio

For the second year running, Crew Studio has been selected by Italia Cont, one of the UK’s most historic performing arts conservatoires, to deliver its unique integrated Production + Education model.

The collaboration places BA acting students directly inside a professional film production environment, led by Award-Winning professionals from Film & TV resulting in Cinema-level showcase scenes, and an authentic experience of how real screen projects are developed, filmed and delivered. For performers preparing to enter the industry, that kind of exposure can make a significant difference.

A Conservatoire with More Than a Century of Heritage

Founded in 1911, Italia Conti has trained generations of performers for theatre, film and television. Its alumni have built careers across stage and screen, contributing to the UK’s reputation as a global centre for acting talent.

With a heritage spanning more than a century, the academy has long prioritised rigorous performance training. Increasingly, however, modern actors must also understand the realities of screen production—how sets operate, how departments collaborate, and how performances are shaped within the filmmaking process.

That’s where Crew Studio comes in.

Production Meets Education

For Crew Studio, the collaboration represents a core belief about how creative training should work: putting students in authentic environments, true to what the Film & TV industry represents.

Nathan Caselton, Founder of Crew Studio commented on the collaboration: “Filmmaking is inherently collaborative. It’s shaped by the interaction of departments, by creative problem-solving, and by the energy of a production environment. When students are able to experience that environment first-hand, their understanding of the craft deepens dramatically.”

By placing performers directly inside the production process, Crew Studio and Italia Conti are helping to bridge the gap between performance training and professional filmmaking.

And as the partnership enters its second year, the goal remains the same: to give the next generation of performers a clearer, more practical understanding of how screen stories are created.
