Crew Studio x Sunbelt Rentals x Actors Studio at Pinewood Futures Festival 2026

Film and television are rarely about one person. They’re about collaboration; different skills, departments, and businesses coming together to tell a story. And that’s exactly what we brought to the Pinewood Futures Festival 2026.

This January, Crew StudioSunbelt Rentals, and Actors Studio teamed up to deliver a live, interactive film & TV set environment, right in the heart of the festival.

4,000 Attendees. Two Days. One Live Set in Action.

Pinewood Futures Festival 2026 has wrapped — and what an extraordinary two days it was.

With over 4,000 attendees walking through the doors across 30–31 January, the festival once again proved why it has become the UK’s leading free careers event for those exploring pathways into Film & TV. Set within the iconic grounds of Pinewood Studios, the energy across the site was unmistakable: curiosity, ambition, and thousands of conversations about the future of the screen industries.

We were proud to be part of it.

A Working Film Set — Built in Real Time

Over the two days, Crew Studio delivered a live, interactive film set experience designed to showcase the breadth of roles available within Film and High-End Television (HETV).

Rather than speaking about the industry in theory, we built a functioning set environment that demonstrated how productions are actually made — from camera and lighting to performance, direction, and production management.

Actors from Actors Studio performed within the space, bringing story and character to life. Professional-grade equipment supplied by Sunbelt Rentals ensured the set reflected the standards and infrastructure used across professional productions.

The result was not a static display, but a dynamic environment where attendees could observe the rhythm of a working set — how departments communicate, how decisions are made, and how every role contributes to the final frame.

Demonstrating the Workflow of Film & HETV

Throughout the festival, our Director and Producer hosted a range of talks directly from within the live set environment. These sessions explored the workflow of both independent film and high-end television production, offering insight into:

  • How a project moves from script to screen
  • The hierarchy and structure of a professional set
  • The relationship between creative and technical departments
  • The realities of working across Film & HETV

Importantly, these talks were grounded in practical demonstration. Attendees didn’t just hear about call sheets, lighting setups, or on-set communication — they saw those processes unfolding in real time.

For many, this was the first opportunity to witness how roles intersect: how a Director works with a 1st AD, how lighting decisions shape performance, how camera movement influences blocking, and how production underpins it all.

Collaboration at the Core

One of the strongest messages across the two days was that Film & TV is built on collaboration.

Crew Studio structured the set and demonstrated production workflows. Sunbelt Rentals provided the equipment and technical backbone that powers professional environments. Actors Studio brought trained performers who could respond to direction, adapt to technical demands, and illustrate the craft required in front of the camera.

Each partner represented a different facet of the industry — mirroring how real-world productions rely on multiple businesses, disciplines, and skill sets working in unison.

For attendees, this wasn’t just a showcase of roles. It was a demonstration of how businesses collaborate to bring a production to life.

Inspiring the Next Generation

With 4,000 people attending across the two days, Pinewood Futures Festival 2026 reinforced the appetite for accessible, practical insight into the screen industries.

From students taking their first steps toward a creative career, to career-changers exploring production pathways, the conversations were ambitious and forward-thinking. Questions ranged from entry-level crew routes to progression within HETV, from performance training to technical apprenticeships.

If even a fraction of those attendees left with a clearer understanding of where they might fit within Film & TV, then the festival achieved exactly what it set out to do.

Looking Ahead

We are incredibly proud to have contributed to Pinewood Futures Festival 2026 and to have shared a live set environment with thousands of future filmmakers, crew members, performers, and producers.

The future of Film & Television depends on access, visibility, and collaboration. Over two days at Pinewood Studios, we saw all three in action.

Here’s to the next generation — and to the productions they will one day lead.
